Mulonda "Maven" Rashidi, the new leader of the Peace & Justice Party's youth wing, considers North Korea to be one of the world's freest and most democratic countries.

Rashidi has shared political videos on TikTok. He expands on his views on North Korea to Klassekampen:

—"My personal support for North Korea is a matter of anti-imperialism. Korea was divided by the USA," Rashidi says.

The Peace & Justice Party's youth wing is called Young Anti-Imperialism.

When confronted with claims of North Korea being an oppressive dictatorship without any democracy or freedom of expression, Mulonda Rashidi replies,

—"What you're talking about, I think, is the liberal values that the USA is trying to push onto other countries. North Korea has different values. It is out of touch with reality to say that they are not democratic. North Korea's constitution is very democratic. Everyone has the right to work, healthcare, and education."

Rashidi understands that his views are provocative for many people in Norway.

—"Westerners do not want to call North Korea a democracy, but you have to understand it as a country with a completely different history and culture than the West," he says.

Maven's comments on the DPRK have also been covered by NRK, VG, iNyheter, Klassekampen, and ABC Nyheter, potentially among others. I don't really know what to make of their coverage. Nettavisen is the same publication that recently did some fucked up transphobic shit about a CSA case.

I guess I'm still formulating my attitudes towards Peace & Justice. The party has been exploding in popularity since their recent poster campaign (apropos, the party is reporting an influencer to the police for tearing down its posters), and I guess this sudden popularity and attention has shaken things up for the party. The youth wing was basically just founded right now and the party's still formulating its views on different things. The party's biggest donor was and foreseeably will remain a capitalist with business interests in Russia, known as Atle Berge.

I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled and see how this party develops as a political force, because for its small size the Norwegian news media has been obsessed with it. For now I guess all I have to say is based-department to old Maven.

Edit: Oh, I was gonna mention — this Nettavisen article also included two embedded videos of like Peace & Justice's appearance on Debatten with some commentary, but I didn't bother translating those.

Maven is a terrible reactionary patsoc, friends with Midwestern Marx and the ACP. He's been posting anti-vegan and anti-LGBT content on TikTok which obviously made everyone very mad at him, but he doesn't give a shit and doesn't question himself. Example.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, Peace & Justice has in general been giving off some sussy vibes.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
