I often wonder whether the type of "mutual respect" that modern movements teach is actually just a way to disable people from taking effective action, as everything is considered "too extreme" these days (at least for a normal person to do it).

Yeah, the powerful figures of the establishment tend to have the same dry cleaners no matter how much they pretend to not get along..

Part of it yes, part of it no if everybody was either for or against a statement than nothing would get done besides by what which part was the biggest. If people are open for compromises you can get more done.

You don't need to get rid of all cars to make a city more friendly to people walking or biking, but you also need to spend money on infrastucture for them.
