Small trucks are the worst IMO. Yeah they are better mpg but have shit towing and ain't much better than my Outback with carrying anything large.

Sure I'm sure there are some use cases but the half ton is just a more usable form factor without being that much worse on mpg or cost.

@ShittyRedditWasBetter the 1990 f150 had a 7500lb towing capacity? The Chevy Colorado gets a ton and a half, my CRV has over a three quarter ton https://www.edmunds.com/ford/f-150/1990/features-specs/

7500 isn't that much for boats cars. Some of them will be might be might enough but as soon as you move into covered trailers and mid size boats you'll find it limiting.

The crv has 1500lb weight limit not sure what your talking about there. Definitely not enough for anything but additional cargo space or a very small bike and trailer.
