Action scenes like that it’s best to keep under 1/200 sec so you can capture their expression.
If be bumping up to 1/1000 to get the splashes, but open up a wider aperture to really emphasise on them with some exaggerated depth of field. 400mm, get a real distant look about it to enhance the isolation and helplessness.
I mean, if you can capture the water droplets in the sunlight, it could be really beautiful. OTOH, bokeh. 50/50
