Sounds like the concept would be far more fun if the fantasy world started rapidly developing its own modern military industry from captured tech or whatever and you get all kinds of wacky stuff
Magically invisible stealth bomber dragons, burrowing tanks built around giant badgers, warlocks cursing you with Havana syndrome
Bards that deviously coax you into Havana few too many drinks the night before a major battle.
Getting me to magic missile my own JSDF CO is a very low charisma check in the first place
