JJ kinda did it first with Lens Flare Trek.
Strange New Worlds definitely laid some groundwork with the Temporal Wars arc though.
except he blew up regular timeline romulus as a throwaway. i hope he never works again and dies broke
Not really - it just showed that an alternate universe had Disco Klingons. Which doesn't mean only the AU had Disco Klingons.
My personal headcanon says that any major variations in the appearance of Klingons over time is non-diagetic or Doylean.
