The common thread is, money is power, power corrupts, and corruption is commonplace. There is little to no will to fight systemic corruption. It's so much easier to look the other way, pretend it doesn't exist, or benefit from it. We cannot, or will not, hold ourselves accountable for the damage we cause to the planet, or to ourselves. We love to tell ourselves stories about what lofty goals we have, but seldom do we live up to them.
I just hope we can survive long enough to learn the hard, bitter lessons we must endure to start actually taking responsibility as a species so we can begin to change how we see our role on this planet.
Odd thing is that Christians are supposed to be stewards of the Earth.
It's literally in their holy book to take care of the planet. I don't understand why none of them read the Bible.
Some of them conveniently read that as saying God gave them the Earth as a resource for their own use and abuse.
what verse should i be quoting?
Genesis 2:15, for one — there are others but that starts to become a matter of interpetation. For example, Genesis 1:28 can be interpreted to mean 'be good stewards' but you'll see why the interpetation could become twisted.
