MODERATORS
I've never understood tourism but I understand wanting to visit other countries if that makes sense.
I want to go to Spain, China, Mexico, etc, but I don't want to be a "tourist" in a "tourist area".
I mean the rise of tourism and capitalism are intrinsically linked. Galavanting around the world was always kinda bourgeois, and it’s hard to actually get to know a place when you only have a month off work in a year. I guess the best way to travel to another place is because of work or family. Then you’re actually forced to engage with the local environment to some degree.
