I saw this post titled "Scratch a anti-harm reductionist and a fascist bleeds" (https://lemmy.world/post/33320759)

I commented that "harm reduction" apparently means sending billions in weapons to israel while they commit genocide and shutting down campus protests speaking out against that genocide. I said that seemed pretty fascist to me.

Within an instant, they downvoted my post and banned me. Guess it's my fault for posting in a circlejerk community, but I'm still scratching my head on how that makes me a tankie. Something tells me this mod would be calling in the tanks to suppress any dissent if they could.

I've since removed him, yeah.

Thanks, I believe it was the right decision. Funnily enough, I don't have many issues with PugJesus views at all. It is his moderation which is a problem.

Pretty much opposite to the other example you gave where I have major issues with this person views. His moderation merely follows this ideological pattern, that's all.

Davels does the exact same thing, but much worse

Admittedly, I haven't read all thread you linked but I haven't noticed anything personal in his bans. He seems to follow his ideological line.

Now, I strongly disagree with his excuses for Russian aggression, denial of attempted genocide of Ukrainians, attempt to whitewash Tienanmen massacre etc. But when he bans/deletes/etc it looks like he does it because he is trying to hide facts inconvenient to the regimes he supports. Not because someone argued with him in a different thread about something completely unrelated.

In another words, his moderation is completely unsurprising for his dictatorship-supporting instance and a reason I tend to not wander into tankie part of Lemmyverse.

It appears to be a completely different issue to PugJesus.

But how else could Goat deflect blame?

Pug is his friend. They must use Whataboutism to deflect blame!

[-] goat@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 hours ago

Pug's not my friend, you nincompoop. Nor am I deflecting blame.

[-] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 hours ago

I respect nincompoop, not a lot of people use that one. Honestly that has my respect.

Credit where it's due, Goat did remove PJ and agree that the ban reasons were invalid, so that shows good faith. And other bad mods exist, if we have to say that :p

Indeed, other bad mods are a thing everywhere.

92 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
