"So who can I refuse treatment to?"

"That's the neat part. You don't."

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

never have refused. never will.

But do u think its important that u retain the right to? Even if you don't intend to use it.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

the right to refuse providing life saving service to someone? even if I consider the person no longer a human because they chose to become a nazi?

not an actual right. if you can’t provide it, to everyone, even people who disgust you, you’re in the wrong industry.

Interesting so you would feel obligated to save Hitlers life from an injury that would be fatal without ur intervention?

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

reductio ad absurdum.

the guy having a heart attack by the mcdonalds with nazi tattoos is a nazi. not the same as literal hitler. still an inhuman piece of shit. still worthless. still required to provide care. not the target of a worldwide multinational military operation requiring millions of russians to take berlin.

reductio ad absurdum.

I don't think so. If you do not retain the right to refuse service you must save Hitlers life. Given that the logic leads us to this ultimatum u must choose save Hitlers life ur retain the right to refuse service based on personal moral views.

think so

well then, you’re fucking wrong.

also “save life” different than “attempt”

Answer the ultimatum. That's all I ask.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

your ultimatum was impossible to answer and absurd, so no.

[-] muntedcrocodile@hilariouschaos.com -1 points 2 weeks ago

your ultimatum was impossible to answer

Yes that's the point. U cannot hold any 2 beliefs without running into at least one contradiction. Do u compromise on one belief or do u continue living pracricing literal doublethink.

and absurd

All hypotheticals are, that's why they are a hypothetical

, so no.

I guess u have chosen doublethink. I wouldn't want to be on the side of the absolute authoritarian big brother but that's just me I guess.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

no no. the impossible part is that he’s already dead. you cannot be presented with your example.

That's why its a hypothetical.

One if the most amazing powers of the human brain is the ability to displace ourselves in time and space and imagine what we would do in such a situation.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

well my point and standing is not hypothetical. try again.

I give up I have been thoroughly beaten by experience
