I'm just glad they got a power hungry, austistic lunatic in charge now, so everyone can see this is absolutely the end game, before this becomes normalized and people like me get called retarded for not wanting a car that can be remote deactivated.

Autism doesn’t make someone an asshole. Let’s not normalise hatred of neurodivergence

[-] victorz@lemmy.world 41 points 4 days ago

Thank you for calling this out. Autistic should not be derogatory!

[-] s@piefed.world 20 points 4 days ago

The user also dropped the R slur. The “people like me” part stands out to me as a little suspect as well.

[-] danc4498@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

I think his point is that Musk is trying to normalize calling people that word on Twitter. I didn’t get the impression the user was in support of using that word.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Don't worry about vague stuff, who cares what they think people like them are - just tell them to blow it out their ass for using a slur.

It doesn't but a neurodivergent person can absolutely be an arsehole.

Its not a magic label that makes everything "quirky" and "eccentric".

[-] buttnugget@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

Nobody said that. They were simply correcting the misconception that autism is bad.

[-] Senal@programming.dev -5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

And i was correcting the misconception that just because someone is neurodivergent doesn't make them immune to being an arsehole.

Neurodivergent people are people, with all that entails.

Nobody said autism is bad (in the chain im replying to), but here we are.

Two statements that never happened with two corrections that aren't needed apparently.

[-] buttnugget@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

They did say autism was bad. That’s the whole point of the correction. Are you just dead set on being an asshole?

[-] Senal@programming.dev 1 points 3 days ago

The entire post was :

I’m just glad they got a power hungry, austistic lunatic in charge now, so everyone can see this is absolutely the end game, before this becomes normalized and people like me get called retarded for not wanting a car that can be remote deactivated.

Point at where the person said autism was bad and i'll drop it.

[-] buttnugget@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

If you cannot parse “power hungry autistic lunatic” as having negative connotations then I’m not sure what I could ever attempt to discuss with you.

[-] Senal@programming.dev 1 points 3 days ago

If you want to pretend your interpretation of three descriptors is universal then i'm not sure discussion is what you are looking for.

Two potentially (probably) negative and one neutral, to me, but what do i know , you are the arbiter of correct interpretations after all.

[-] buttnugget@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Lmao yes, that’s right. Autistic is just mentioned neutrally in a list. Can’t make this shit up.

[-] Senal@programming.dev 1 points 2 days ago

I shall defer to your interpretation, absolute arbiter of meaning.
