As it turns out you can have both I understand. I have a friend who is a chili head and he says that since you don't get the heat from your taste buds directly, with increasing tolerance for spicy you can also still taste all the flavors And also enjoy the heat.

I like hot but I'm not on that kind of level where I want 50g of blended habanero in a sauce.

I get that too, but still, why build up a tolerance for heat when you can just have the same flavor with less heat. Why is the heat inherently good?

Would your chili head friend be able to answer this for me? ๐Ÿ˜…

I'll ask him.

I will also say that, purely from a dopamine standpoint I can see the value. The endorphine dump from super spicy food, or cold showers, or from skydiving, or adrenaline seeking activities kinda has its own reward. It also comes with less liver damage or legal ramifications than other highs.

As I'm cutting down alcohol I've dabbled with super hot foods from time to time :).

Interesting. I guess if you're a person who needs those hits of endorphins/dopamine/adrenaline/what have you, it seems like a good outlet. ๐Ÿ˜

As for me, I like it more zen, you could say.๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Sports, exercise, and video games give me enough highs, I think.

I needed fewer jolts, so to speak, before kids. My time and my available vices are slowly leaking away, so we get creative!

Very relatable. Had to probably cut at least half of my hobbies after kids.
