I am so happy that we finally have the ability to really build custom starships. The existing custom ship building system was severely limited, not least because the base starship designs were in desperate need of updating. But, the Corvettes are a completely different scale, compared to regular ships, and the game has been designed around the scale of the existing ships. The Corvettes don't fit in freighters, they don't fit on ship landing pads, and when you're just teleporting from base to base, they might spawn partly inside of structures. They're somewhere between a starship and a freighter, but they're not very suitable for either.

I would love to be able to build a small custom starship, that isn't just one of the existing fighter, hauler, etc designs, but that is still just a single pilot cockpit vessel, like an x-wing. I would also love to be able to build a fully custom freighter! The existing freighters are unnecessarily large, with most of their size being totally useless polygons. I would build a fully custom large capital ship, with a holding bay for single pilot starships, that would stay mostly in space or in orbit around a planet, and then have those starships for hopping around from planet to planet.

I think Hello Games needs to once and for all figure out the scale of things, because right now it's kind of all over the place. Like, it's great that we can now walk into our Corvette ships, but why can't we just get a cockpit that opens? Why can't I just have a small fighter that has a cockpit I can just get in out of?

I'm going to keep playing with the Corvettes to see what I can come up with, but I really think they further expose a fundamental flaw worth the scale is the game as it is. But, maybe that can only be resolved in a completely new game.

Max parts is 100. I have varying experience with Post-completion parts. (Like adding ladders from the Base Menu seems to add to the parts, so if you Max out 100 on the Corvette Builder and add a staircase from the base menu, you will need to delete the stairs if you edit the ship with the Corvette Builder)

Guns fire from the FIRST 2 you place. The smaller dual gun turrets and the quad turret stats cap at 3 each (meaning 6 total turrets) so put your first 2 either Centerline or symetrical, then add the extras for stats if you want them.

Max length is about 9 Habs. Max width is decided by the circle (bigger at the middle) but smallest Max width is 9 Habs. (If your tail or nose is touching the front/back it can only have 4 on each side of Centerline). Max height is 5 Habs. If you are Max height the camera clips into the ceiling when you take off from space stations.

On each exit hatch there is a Teleport on the left, and Open Door on the right. If you land at a Freighter and don't use the Teleport, you activate the Spacewalk feature and one odd feature is you cannot enter the Freighter from the 3 spaceship ports. You instead clip into the roof of the hangar, and get stuck between the roof of the hangar and the external bulkhead of the Freighter and have to fly around half bling trying to get the Rescue button to work. (Bugged)

Following this, Atlas Station interiors and Abandoned Space Stations did not recieve a makeover and you land in the entry tunnel, and it teleports you into the station. There are Teleporters placed in these stations now so you can get teleported back to your Corvette.

Landing Gears are exclusively when landing on planets. No idea why they're a mandatory part tbh. Hovers are MUCH more popular than the "foot" style. When you use a Terminus or Portal to warp somewhere, your Corvette DOES spawn "on" an appropriately close Landing Pad (like for bases and Settlements with landing pads)
