"Gaza will be governed under the temporary transitional governance of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee, responsible for delivering the day-to-day running of public services and municipalities for the people in Gaza," the White House said.

A "Board of Peace" chaired by Trump, which will include former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, will have "oversight and supervision" of the Palestinian committee.

The plan says the Palestinian Authority will eventually take over Gaza once it has "completed its reform programme".

Netanyahu praised Trump for offering to manage the enclave as "Chairman of the Board", saying: "The fact that you are taking this on helps a lot."

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Back up a bit. Is this "peace" "plan" literally making President Trump the unelected ruler of the Gaza Strip? Not in his role as President of the United States, even, which would be bad enough, but making Trump, personally, the highest authority in Gaza, until he decides Gaza is "reformed" enough for him to surrender power?

Am I reading this right?

Are we going all the way back to the time of Julius Caesar where the leader of Rome could just give himself a province to rule personally?

My what the fuckometer has been consistently overloaded since January 20th, but, really, what the actual fuck?

From what I heard this is what HAMAS or whoever is doing negotiations for Palestinians wants. They know trump is bad, but Netanyahu is worse. They would rather Trumps name be personally tied to their future. Scary that they think that's their best strategy.
