assassin's creed gameplay really stops working when repeating firearms are competent so there's a hard date limit on it and reconstruction is pushing up on that with revolvers and lever guns.
That's an interesting point, though honestly I don't think it's that different from Hitman or really even Arkham, fundamentally, not that you can't draw distinctions between them. I think guns would just be a design consideration and not a hard limit, plus they already have some stuff in WWI, don't they?
firearms are loud, so if they've embraced more hitman vibes (plan your shit, don't fight 50 guards) with climbing into hotels and stuff, it could still sort of work. basically introduce thief mechanics with stealth, only with wall climbing and garottes.
they already massively changed gameplay once, i guess they could do it a second time if they think they've exhausted history
it would be absolutely hilarious to make an AC game that climaxed with killing JFK and getting away with it
