MODERATORS
I like Pokemon, but more in a nostalgic and theoretical way than actually consuming the media
Even when I was a kid, I just found the art of Yu Gi Oh to be far more dynamic and interesting than other popular card series
I know Yu Gi Oh is limited by the poor game design of its current iteration, but with 12,000 plus cards, mathematically it's still possible to find the right anti-meta deck and make the game work, at least until the nerds figure out a new meta strategy
I hear you, YGO definitely has a tighter, consistent identity compared to something like MTG. I think right now, though, if you want to have the most fun with it, you either play one of the older games like the World Championship or Tag Force series, try out Genesys format, or play through some events in Master Duel. Trying out new decks through the event loaners is at least more fun than struggling in ladder.
