Why is it always maid outfits? I don't mean to be clueless, I just know women's fashion rather vast and this seems oddly narrow.

[-] Berengaria_of_Navarre@lemmy.world 36 points 2 months ago

Most trans girls are massive weebs, there really isn't much more to it. And if you don't agree, feel free to try and fight me.

[-] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 7 points 2 months ago

Why would I fight you? I don't really have an opinion here; it was a genuine question about something I found odd and I appreciate the answer.

[-] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 8 points 2 months ago

I think that was in jest, but don't trust me, I can't read subtext. I only trust regular text

[-] Berengaria_of_Navarre@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

It was half in jest. I have no intention of fighting anyone.

i accept your challenge. cup and ball competition at high noon

Depressed Japanese men like the idea of a woman who has to do everything they say. They shared it with depressed white men, who shared it with depressed closeted trans girls

Now, to be fair, depressed Japanese men copied the idea from white men in the first place.

[-] BartyDeCanter@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 2 months ago

The ciiiiiirclllee of depressed men.

Are they still closeted if they're dressing up for regular meetups like this? 🤔

Then the trans girls come out of the closet, but their tastes are still informed by their closeted time

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

Tbh I really don't get it. I prefer the Greek goddess aesthetic

Yeah at some point I may even get one of those bicep bracelets

Trans women have their own subculture regarding clothing. Teenage male fantasies have a bigger influence than main stream women’s fashion.

Unix Socks make intuitive sense to me for some reason, but maid outfits not so much. Different fantasies then I guess?

Edit: fixed link

[-] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 8 points 2 months ago

Both were popularized by anime.

Clocking trans folk by poor fashion choices is easier than by their face.

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

It's slutty but standardized. You don't gotta make style choices

[-] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 6 points 2 months ago

Huh, never struck me as particularly slutty but ok.

The standardized/low(ish) effort part does kinda track with the other half of the meme though. I hadn't thought of it that way.
