Mainstream media was seething when it happened, made it pretty obvious imo.

That was definitely part of the criticism of those speculations, although tbh I havent really noticed the mainstream media talking about the situation in Niger like… at all.

yeah I guess I should specify "mainstream media specifically intended for English-speaking audiences" whenever I say "mainstream media" during discussions lol

Yup exactly. It's a coup when they are against it, it's a popular uprising when they promote it.
