It's early, but yesterday was my last day at work for November, so I'll count it.

GTO continues being basically the same as the anime thus far. It's fun and aged poorly at the same time. A-

Shibuya Near Family is still pretty good. If you like Kumeta's other works, this one will be enjoyable too. A

Wasteful Days of High School Girls is a very good slice of life nonsense manga I picked up after watching the anime... and one of those manga that got dropped by the translator with no warning several years ago. I find it funny how a MAL review I saw complained that the main characters are too realistic, too similar to annoying people they knew IRL. A

๐Œ๐š๐ง๐ก๐ฎ๐š

Nan Hao Shang Feng is slapstick nonsense. It's alright. B

I've been interested in them lately, so does anyone have some recommendations of good Chinese comics? It seems a lot of them have โˆž chapters.

๐€๐ง๐ข๐ฆ๐ž

Chio's School Road is very anime. 1/3 genuinely fun, 1/3 and 1/3 horny nonsense. Indeed, the author of the manga makes basically only hentai other than this work, which is a fairly common occurrence. B

Eureka Seven is a good mechanime. I'm at the halfway point and I am interested to see what Bones is cooking. A

A Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof is honestly not too interesting so far, despite it being a Studio Shaft anime. It's alright though. C+

I have also finished Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory. It's a good season, though I feel that the show is at its best in season 1, which has the best balance of action and comedy. Or the all-in Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!, because of just how entertaining it is. Shame it ends on a cliffhanger. Season 5 never? It would be a shame. B+

Speaking of... Black Lagoon is basically Full Metal Panic 2 if Melissa Mao was the LI (probably) instead of Chidori and the MCs were criminals instead of war criminals... and it has an industrial pop opening song (just my kind of slop). I can't comment on it much yet as I've only seen a few episodes, but I will definitely watch more.

last month i started writing a very long post about my journey rewatching most of digimon adventure series but my editor decided to not save it so i ended up rage quitting. since i don't have the energy to write it again, i will just summarize my thoughts on them

Digimon Adventure (1999): enjoyable kids show that has many problems because is a kids show

Digimon Adventure 02 (2000): does an amazing job being a sequel but has very bad writing overall

Digimon Adventure tri (2015+): what is an evangelion fan made a very bad sequel to adventure (hated it)

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna (2020): second attempt at making grown up digimon (liked this one alot)

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning (2023): why does this even exist other than extracting money to the name? 02 characters were more relevant in the previous one

outside of digimon, i have been trying to catch up with some seasonals but i still have a big backlog and very few time

A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace: cute lesbobait with a very relatable main character (full of anxiety all the time). quite fun but not sure i had followed it if i didn't followed the manga already

Ranma 1/2 (2025): still hating on this adaptation but i love the series too much to drop it

I've seen episode 1 of Ranma 1/2 and besides the 2020s visuals, it's basically the same. Is the remake worse?

content-wise, they are very similar, specially on the first parts since original content was still not as abundant. original anime was way slower, taking much time into every scene while sometimes adding original additional scenes. new one is fast and it's (probably, haven't done an analysis but feels like it) adapting the manga faithfully, panel by panel. visuals in general are quite good, so no complains there

i have two main problems with it

first one is the pacing. i feel that everything happens too fast. sometimes there is a joke or a romantic scene and then the next one comes immediately without letting the previous one sink in. in general it feels like watching a summary.

second one is the music. specially on season 1, many scenes did not have any music so they feel weird. they improved this on season 2 but even then the music feels too samey and too ambient that it doesn't add much to the scenes other than not being silent.
