If they increase their military spending at the expense of their civilians they’d just end up putting themselves in a really precarious situation similar to the us lmao it would be incredibly easy for the Russians or Chinese to plant spies within Europe creating even more opportunities for espionage it’s a self checkmate

I mean the jerries on r/kommunismus say a lot of people are protesting conscription and increased millitary spending. US probably wont leave nato but if they do, it'd cook europe.
