It's pretty common for victims of communism initiatives given who the communists fought.
The Soviet Union lost somewhere between 20,000,000 and 27,000,000 lives fighting the Nazis in WW2. Canada lost 43,600, and the US 419,400. But it's never been popular to talk about the Soviet contribution to the war because that makes you a tankie.
