Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent promoted the idea of the province of Alberta voting to exit Canada as his boss lusts for U.S. expansion.

The top Trump officials leaned into “rumors” during an interview on the right-wing streaming channel Real America’s Voice.

“Alberta’s a natural partner for the U.S. They have great resources. The Albertans are very independent people,” Bessent said. “Rumor is they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not.”

Doesn’t exactly have his finger on the pulse of Canada…or even Alberta.

There is a minority of conservative Canadians - generally the gun nuts, and now the anti-vax right - who bloviate about separating every time there’s a Liberal Party Prime Minister…it’s been happening since the 70s. They’re stupid…they rotted their brains watching American political entertainment. The same Maple MAGA morons forget all about separation and suddenly get all patriotic the second there’s a Conservative Prime Minister.

They’re truly idiots, just like MAGA. They’re currently losing their minds over Mark Carney…a PM who’s governing to the right of anything their last candidate promised. He should be their wet dream…but they don’t care about outcomes: They treat politics like the WWE…they don’t give a shit or know anything about policy and it’s effects. To them politics are as nuanced as a match between Hulk Hogan vs The Iron Sheik.
