At the beginning of last month, a crosspost to a lemm.ee community showed up in my feed - and it would seem that it showed up in mine alone.

I commented, but nobody else did - and nobody seems to have upvoted or downvoted the post either.

IIRC lemm.ee’s closure is older than this account.

If anyone has any insight, I’m a bit curious to know how and why this could have happened.

Otherwise, behold and regale this weird thing that happened for me!

It's unfortunate that there's no way to see that a community is on a dead instance - lemm.ee communities will still show up in searches, show that they have subscribers, and look exactly like any other community, including letting you create new posts.

While it would be good to see that the instance is gone somehow, I do appreciate that the content is in fact archived and not lost when the instance goes away.

Though it would have been courteous to edit all the community names which like "[closed]" after the name.
