Donation centers are popping up in middle-class neighborhoods, including suburban strip malls and college towns.

If the people selling plasma made 4.7bil, just imagine how much profit the companies running these businesses are making?

I donated plasma once. Its a real bitch and takes like almost 2 hours. The local place gave a free lunch at a run-down shithole of a restaurant with terrible food, and a $30 gift card to Amazon.

You feel like hammered horseshit after for a long while.

Blood is our 9th largest export, surpassing trucks

If it's correct I remember hearing that the bottle they take from you is worth about $1800 and if it's a new donor scheduling fee you'll be getting $100 for the first 7 or 8 donations. Soooo make of that what you will.

Well, the article mentions $6.2 billion being shipped overseas, so they're making at least $1.5b, which is nothing to sniff at. But I imagine most of it is used domestically, and considering the massively inflated hospital prices here, they probably make at least as much as from the exports, so you probably get less than 1/3 of what it's value is, at the very least 2/3 if you assume they make nothing from US plasma (lol, lmao).
