One could make the argument that maybe distraction is a supplementary reason for the strike; I have no doubt that the ruling class likes to resort to multipurpose strategies whenever possible, but as you said, we really have no good cause to believe that distraction is a reason at all, let alone the main one.

I saw a mention previously that Iran had videos they had threaten to release related to Epstein that they had acquired via hacking of IDF/Mossad. I'm really hoping that was not a bluff. To be clear the "distraction" framing is quite false, but Epstein was directly involved with the project of securing the future expansion of the entity in various ways.

It seems that the Dems want to blame all on this on not the US, meaning:

• The opposing Republican party
• US politicians individually
• Possibly even Israel, but I doubt it considering their hardline support
• Speaking of the opposing party, other opposing parties
• and people who didn't vote for them obediently
• and maybe even people who didn't put in hard, yet useless work campaigning and encouraging voting

The contradiction is that the US is supposedly one country that needs to heal its divide and understand that "we're all American", yet when the US does an oopsie, it was someone in the US, rather than the US itself.

If I see one more libshit hue and cry over the Epstein Files, I will find Jeffrey Epstein's rotting corpse and make it say "Fuck you files!"
