Man. The indigenous chiefs are like the labour unions a few generations ago. Demanding things that improve the lives of everyone.
You should read Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire so you can educate yourself.
They are MapleMAGA and have openly expressed vile, racist, anti-immigrant, neo-nazi rhetoric. Engaging with them will not be productive.
Ignoring shit like that doesn't help anyone. Do I think they'll change their ways? No. But that in no way, shape or form should dictate how I choose to respond.
Fair enough! I appreciate you.
Right back atcha. :)
What will 2026 look like 30 years in the future when we gave away billions of dollars and their situation got worse? It will be looked at the same as we look at the war on drugs or aid to Yemen, something that sounded nice but was horribly mismanaged and ineffective.
I'm simply stating there needs to be accountability, which my second link says we shirked that accountability on purpose. Left leaning people that want actual reconciliation should be the most pissed off, as the backlash will breed cynicism.
"give away'
Riiiiight.
Where do you figure the 32b of federal spending went?
Keep digging that hole buddy.
chiefs are politicans, nothing more, nothing less.
And if they help Canada, it's a by-product of helping their actual constituents. Keep in mind where their loyalties are - totally okay, no criticism on that - because it will rightly and absolutely dictate their decisions and their focus on a particular region of Canada.
