Because after 12 years on Reddit, and nearly a million Karma, I was permabanned in the post-Inauguration bloodbath.
My feeling toward Lemmy are mixed. I really miss certain non-political subs, like guitar subs, and animal subs. OTOH, the political forums are much livelier on Lemmy, and you don't have to worry nearly as much about suspensions and bans.
And Reddit was getting flooded with stupid bots, puns, novelty accounts, spam, and Russian Karma Farmers. It would get particularly bad during election years. I bet it's a mess over there right now, and it's only going to get worse.
Edit: How do I get downvoted for that? The question was why I came to Lemmy, and I said why. You downvote someone for truthfully answering a question? I didn't realize that it better be good reason, or else.
