It's ridiculous that we find out about Canadian military deployments from foreign press versus regular briefings from DND/CA. Also, why are our tax dollars spent on enforcing siege warfare against people of Korea instead of helping improve lives for Canadians.

It’s ridiculous that we find out about Canadian military deployments from foreign press versus regular briefings from DND/CA.

The operation runs since 2018 and has been announced back then: https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/services/operations/military-operations/current-operations/operation-neon.html

these are obviously new deployments the public should know about

You have an interesting way to describe the enforcement of UN sanctions against the North Korean regime to hinder and slow down their ballistic missile development program by literally blocking the transfer of rocket fuel and components to their country.

The people of North Korea are definitely suffering, but it ain't because their government is being slowed down in their development of nuclear ICBMs.

Also, where is your criticism of the North Korean regime for spending their people's resources into ballistic and nuclear programs while their people are starving?

[-] jimd@lemmy.ca 3 points 7 hours ago

these sanctions hurt people like in Cuba

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 6 points 11 hours ago

Oh man wait till you find out that DPRK has a border with Russia and China who will continue supplying them with rocket fuel and components. Anybody with a functioning brain and minimal knowledge of geography understands that this argument is complete nonsense.

All the sanctions do is harm the lives of regular people in Korea. And Canada is participating in crimes against humanity here while taking resources from people at home to do it.

Also, where is your criticism of the North Korean regime for spending their people’s resources into ballistic and nuclear programs while their people are starving?

Ah yes, why would DPRK want to arm itself when it is being openly threatened by the Burger Reich. It's such a mystery. Maybe they don't want to be invaded the way Iran is right now. Just a thought.

Meanwhile, where is your criticism of western regimes run by the pedophile oligarchs who starve their own people to fight endless wars on the global majority?

Look up "North Korea clandestine ship to ship transfers" and realize how wrong you are. The rest is the usual tankie talk that I won't even bother responding to because it speaks for itself.

It isn't enough that I blocked the .ml instances in my feed, you guys try to spread your propaganda to other instances. Go crawl back to .ml you tankie. Your .ml moderator powers don't work here, you can't easily silence me.

Again, the elephant in the room here is that it's none of Canada's business and this patrolling does not benefit people living in Canada.

You just gotta love how terminally online libs start throwing tantrums when they're exposed to any views outside their bubble. You people are a cult. Also love how you act like you're being prosecuted when somebody disagrees with you. The fact that you can't actually make a coherent counter point and start using slurs like a child instead is a true measure of your intellect on display.

Now run along and make a clown of yourself somewhere else.

Even Fukuyama agrees that North Korea was right to get nukes.

Oh my you're right. That explains it.

The unfortunate part is, I agree with many of their points, such as Israel is committing genocide, what the us is doing in Iran is stupid/horrible/etc, people should have housing/food/etc. But as soon as you say what russia is doing is also bad, suddenly im a fascist who is supporting American hegemony. Oh well

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

This is such a great illustration how effective propaganda in the west is. You accept that all my points are valid, but because the pedophile oligarchs told you the war in Ukraine is entirely Russia's fault you accept that completely uncritically. Especially weird given that even western media has been openly covering rampant fascism in Ukraine for many years. Oh well

[-] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

If you could only flip that around. You would see just how much you are affected by eastern propaganda, you are blindly accepting what putin is saying about Ukraine, and accepting invading another country and bombing schools and hospitals. The irony is there. Is Ukraine "the good guys?" No, but i respect their right for sovereignty, and fighting back against russian expansionism. In a similar vein, is Hamas "the good guys" no, but i understand they have been fighting against Israeli genocide. Is Iran "good" no, but i respect their sovereignty and recognize the fact that the us and Israel had no business doing what they are doing.

Be specific, what eastern propaganda do you claim I'm affected by. Please do quote something I said that's blindly accepting what putin is saying about Ukraine, and accepting invading another country and bombing schools and hospitals. What I quote is what's being openly reported in mainstream western media https://thehill.com/opinion/5198022-ukraine-conflict-disinformation/

It's weird for you to claim that you accept people's right to sovereignty when the legitimate government in Ukraine was overthrown in a violent western backed coup. Top people in the US, like Rubio, have openly stated now that Ukraine is their proxy. Nobody is even hiding it. It's also strange that your concept of sovereignty and self determination doesn't extend to people of Donbas who did not wish to be ruled by this regime. Evidently you want everything to be neatly black and white so it conveniently fits your conception of the world.

Nowhere have I said that Russian invasion of Ukraine was a good thing. What I've actually said is that it was an obvious response to NATO encroachment on Russian borders.

[-] T00l_shed@lemmy.world -1 points 10 hours ago

Every time. Its the same with the .ml, oh well im not going to engage with you anymore, I've done it countless times before and its always been plugging ears and mud slinging. have a great life!

It love it how you lot immediately disperse like roaches when the kitchen light is turned on when presented with sources and facts.
