It's not like there have been successful communism or socialist states that weren't authoritarian hellholes. Soviet union wasn't even communist, it was one-party authoritarian state which goes against the core idea of communism or socialism (power was for the state, not distributed in society/between workers)
I totally agree. That is why we need to, at least, create a fixtional character as a good example for it, rather than using bad examples of reality. I mean something like a mascot.

No clue what Makhno is, but Zapata is along the lines Amish communities in US, except in Mexico and with different ideology.
Ie. The only reason they don't collapse and function is because they're within a state. They really like to roleplay that they're not, tho
