I know he's stupid and a drunk, but I don't believe for a moment he thought there was a biblical verse about aviators. They were obviously repurposing the Pulp Fiction quote for this particular pilot and his unit.
Right. That matches his persona perfectly.
I bet when he was around black people in social settings as a younger person he brought up Samuel Jackson to relate.
I think the issue was mixing in non-bible material, without disclosing it, during a sermon.
He should not be holding a sermon in the first place. That is the main issue. It is rather inconsequential if the goobledegook he says differs from regular sermon goobledegook.
