Braindead comments here, same as reddit... this is amazingly good, you can get 'any fullscreen experience' and set it to playnite or steam. You get all the performance benefits and use your chosen platform.
I've been using this for months on my son's gaming machine and it makes a huge difference in ram heavy titles or titles which needed that little bit more to run.
But hey, continue to hate.
This is basically steam os performance without limitations of linux. Steam os allegedly still edges ahead but we're now talking margin of error levels.
I mean, its probably a good thing for those that still use microslop, but for those of us who have left for the freedom of Linux it's too little too late. I'm glad that it's working out for you though.
There aren't that many "limitations" for gaming on Linux these days. If you're into older PC games Linux works much better than windows. Most new games work as good or better too. I wholeheartedly recommend that you give it a try, especially since you seem to know what you are doing PC wise. I went from being constantly frustrated with my system (especially with broken updates) to actually feeling like I was in control of it.
Yuck. You still have windows. Why?
I'd look at it the other way around - why go to a platform that has marginally worse performance, while also making you deal with the limitations of Windows.
It's a gaming feature, why would you not want to be able to play all games? Are you not a gamer??? Maybe this feature is not for you then and neither is this conversation.
I think you might have misread my comment. I was saying the feature only just gets to the same performance, while using it means having to deal with Windows.
If you mean the incompatibility of some anticheat titles - I think kernel level anticheat is an unmeritted level of system access, so I wouldn't use them either way.
“Are you not a gamer???” he said unironically while trying to defend a $2.75 trillion company that has laid off thousands of game developers after promising it wouldn’t in order to get approval to buy one of its biggest competitors. Just one of many attempts to solidify its dominance at the cost of gamers and the people that make games. I wonder why people “continue to hate”, it must be all those other comments that are “braindead”.
> Why would you not want to play all games?
My steam library is well over 600 games, the vast majority of games I want to play are playable on Linux. Why would I pay money for an operating system as shitty as Windows just to play a couple of games that use kernel level anti cheat. And why would I pay money for a game that demands kernel level access to my system. I honestly can’t think of a single PC game I actually want to play that I can’t.
Use whatever OS suits you, just don’t get salty when people laugh at Microsoft trying to deal with the aftermath of them pissing off a subsection of gamers and computer users over the years.
God, what an insufferable comment.
You act like Microsoft has executed your dog. It doesn't make this feature any less useful. If you're happy on linux, stay there? Not everything is made to suit you and your fetishes...
The sheer fact people taking my are you gamer line serious is hilarious. Do i need to put /s ? I'm sorry to hear MS lives rent free in your head.
Why, because I gave one example of how shitty they are for the game industry?
I’m not going to pat Microsoft on the back for making Windows almost as good at running Windows games as Linux/SteamOS can run Windows games, I’m going to laugh at how funny that is. That one feature also isn’t going to make the rest of the Windows experience any better.
Ah yes, my fetish of wanting to be able to use my computer and game without Microsoft and other companies enshittifying every bit of it.
New to the internet? Surprised people you don’t know read words you wrote and they interpreted them after you claimed everyone was leaving braindead comments.
They don’t, I only commented on your reply to VeganCheesecake because I thought they made a good point and most of your comments on the post came across a bit dickish.
I am indeed a gamer. I also prefer My software to not stop me from gaming.
For example, 1/5 of my windows system is in Hungarian. This is a common problem when creating a windows iso. It is not possible to create one without leaving some trage of the last system behind. There is no fix to this.
Here's a list of the rest:
Or in your words: It can't game if I install Windows (See point 1). Aren't you a gamer??? How can't you game without games?
Or, to not kill the few remaining braincells of the people who still have some: I'd prefer to play 99% of my library without having an aneurism than 5 more games (like, fortnite, Arena Breakout Infinite, Tarkov (Delta force also, but that game is dead)
Right, you install windows N and can't handle it.
Skill issue.
