I bought my mom a new laptop a while back. One day it stopped working and wouldn't turn on. She stopped using it for about a year. Then it started to work again. She's still using that laptop to this day.
If I had to guess, the cmos battery died and somehow that fixed the issue. How that fixed the issue I'm still not sure.
