Did liberals learn nothing from 2016? Stop writing frivolous articles about the guy you don't want winning
I get the sense that the ones selling the articles are more interested in clicks and impressions than....anything and everything else.
Real journalism is dead. Those left beating the corpse only do it for money. He gets them the money.
CNN gave him a fucking Town Hall to scream his lies and bullshit out at people.
Of the many horrible things about having a Trump presidency, one of the worst is that any issue that he brings up can no longer be seriously discussed in certain circles.
Trump knows the best lies are based on the truth, so he called the news fake at a time when many people were just starting to realize that there was a problem. His supporters ate it up and the rest of us can no longer have a serious conversation about it.
Rational, free-thinking opponents of Trump style politics need to stop acting like many of his lies aren't based on a grain of truth. Sometimes the orange clown is going mention real issues.
There should be no debate about whether there is an issue with news media, only how bad an issue it is and how do we fix it when the First Amendment explicitly declares a free press.
The current for-profit news system is tearing our nation apart for money. This is a huge and highly polarizing issue. Frankly I am not at all sure that there is a good fix for it as things stand, but that doesn't mean that we should pretend it doesn't exist and that anyone that mentions it is a secret fascist.
It seems somewhat intentional. The anti-vaxx thing was so dumb that it made it impossible to discuss real problems with vaccines, for instance. I’m not any sort of vaccine conspiracy believer. I got 3 Pfizers. However I felt very sick after the 2nd and 3rd… 101.5 fever for 2-3 days, which is a lot as my normal temp is 97. After the 3rd one I didn’t really feel normal for 3-4 weeks if ever and my heart rate somehow went up from always being 60-70 to 90-130 (??). But if I tell doctors or most anyone this, they assume I’m some vaccine conspiracist, which makes no sense considering I willingly got 3 of them, but in any event, they don’t take it even remotely seriously because so many people were so vocally dumb about it.
Ironically, fascists love saying the exact same thing.

Not exactly what I said. That's about "fake news" I don't think news is fake. I just think it's all horrible shallow click bait with very little decent investigative journalism being done anymore. The article might as well just be the headline now.
In either case, the message is "stop listening to the press."
Not really what I said at all, but sure.
What you said is not as aggressively explicit as "The press is actively and willfully lying, stop listening to the press." But it absolutely is "The press is corrputed by money to the point of being irrelevant, stop listening to the press."
So, you're adding extra words to what I said to make it what you want it to say? You should go get a job with one of these amazing clickbait "journalism" outfits like buzzfeed.
The excuse you're making here is the same kind of excuse that Trump makes about his stochastic terrorism.
You're super fucking irritating is the point I've been trying to make that you don't seem to pick up on.
There it is.
It's cute that you think I clicked any of those links.
Just mousing over them is sufficient.
Totally going to do that now.
That's one hell of an interpretation. They implied nothing of the kind.
Jesus, thats quite the interpretation and sort of proving his point.
Criticizing for profit media is seen by liberal voters as an attack on liberal democracy.
You're part of the issue here, and I gotta ask, why?
A free press is necessary for a healthy democracy. I imagine that's why it was included in the First Amendment. People require information in order to make decisions about how government should operate, and who to elect to represent them. That information should, in large part, come from non-government sources. That doesn't mean that journalists or media outlets are immune from criticism, but throwing out blanket statements denigrating all press is dangerous.
And it is the responsibility of each citizen to be an active participant in the process of being informed - not just being a passive audience, having whatever just poured over them. Of course different media outlets are going to have different motivations and different agendas. That has been and will always be true. It's our job to weigh what is presented and make a judgment for ourselves to what degree it's truthful or makes correct conclusions.
Perfect example: One of the people I watch for Trump criminal cases news and opinion is Glenn Kirschner. I am fully aware that he's a bit "extra," but I find that he presents facts about events accurately, and the conclusions he makes are generally well-founded. I don't always agree fully with Kirschner's editorializing and predictions, and I continue to pay attention to unfolding events to get a sense of his - and others' - accuracy.
Again, a free press is necessary for a healthy democracy, and a free press is able to act as a check on itself, so long as the People actively check it, too. What we are doing here with these posts and these comments - we are part of this free press. When we disagree (civilly, I hope), we and others end up better informed.
What issue?
Yes, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for anyone else to call out failures in journalism.
Fascists will lie about anything that helps them retain or gain power. The merit of their statements is not worth considering.
CNN was bought out a few years ago by a Rightwing douchbag.
Who told you "real journalism" ever existed?
See also: Yellow Journalism, Hearst, etc.
The CEO also lost his job for what a stupid decision that was. Not for the e country, of course, they don’t care about that, but just stupid for CNN.
Why are you conflating this article with "liberals"? It's literally pagesix, you can't scrape the bottom of the tabloid barrel harder here. They'd put out an article on paint drying if it got clicks.
Ignore your adversary at your peril.
Mock him for being a loser whenever possible.
See, I like the cut of your jib!
Why thank you, sir madam or other.
In Brazil, Bolsonaro election was literally this. The left was more interested in making articles about him than about itself. Turns out, he ended up winning. Any publicity is publicity. Second elections were different, the left focused on itself while Bolsonaro was losing allies and getting bad publicity made by his own campaign management, his own narrative and actions. Showing that the other side is bad doesn't show an alternative to it, just get them visibility.
And what do you suppose that will accomplish? You still are going to get a dose of Trump, like it or not. In the next year, he's going to run for President and face Judge and jury several times. He will crep into your news cycle.
I was at my parents last night and every third word out of MSNBC’s anchor’s mouth was Trump. Not details or anything, just a screed about how awful he is.
I told my mom “man, if Trump goes to prison they’re not gonna have anything to talk about.”
I hate the guy too but there’s a war in Europe and the planet is dying and there’s tons of labor actions going on, and yet they devote most of their programming to this one asshole.
Wow it's almost like mini Hitler has had his Beer Hall Putsch and we're understandably concerned about the rise of fascism in the US, which Trump embodies.
A breathless ten minute screed after every commercial break isn’t going to stop it.
You're right, we should just ignore him like good little centrists
You may call me lazy, or ignorant, or even an idiot. But I will not have my honor impugned by being called a "centrist." Them's fightin' words.
As for ignoring him: I know he's a fascist. I know he's a con man. I know he's attempted to overthrow the government. I do not need to hear it every ten minutes, especially when it's just the anchor shouting at the camera and not new info or investigation. That's just outrage bait.
Other things are happening in the world. Fascism is on the rise everywhere. Yes, Trump is bad. But for fuck's sake let's talk about one of the many, many other very important things that are happening for five goddamn minutes.
I'm not that the reporting on Trump is meant to change the minds of his supporters...
That's not a very nice thing to say. It's not their fault they can't read.
You could say that this is a result of a 4 time indicated defendant. The wife is already making sure to get hers. If he is guilty of just one of those 91 charges his penalty may be equal to a life sentence at his age.
So I see you are a pagesix type of guy…
Please keep your "liberal" shit in Hexbear and/or Lemmygrad. I hope you realize that you sound like a Republican when you speak that way.
I don't know why you seem shocked to come across an ex-Republican. I supported Trump in 2016, and I'm explaining half of why he won. Ironically, your comment explains the other half.
