The Soviet Union is often, even justifiably, accused of gerontocracy, but it's got fucking nothing on the US.
Sure the average age of the politburo was old in the 70s and 80s, but every single one of those guys died younger than Biden is now. The average age of a senator is almost 70, Strom Thurnond retired at 100 years old
“70s and 80s” refers to a time period in the Soviet Union. In glorious USA, it refers to the age of its politicians.
