There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants. More detail here.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Anyone know what the take in Rojava is on Palestine? Are they going to be massive opportunists that fuck over Palestinians by teaming up with Israel and the US if Syria gets dragged into this?

[-] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 39 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Hate to break it to you, but the Kurds get a bunch of support from Israel. Netanyahu has called for the establishment of a Kurdish state.

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

How did so many westerner's get duped into supporting a proxy state of Israel and America establishing a military foothold in a sovereign nation that's being invaded? They really did just slap a socialist coat of paint on a US airforce base and 90% of the western left fell for it

[-] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 28 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Partly because the Kurds have been oppressed, and partly because Turkey sucks.

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

oh i'm sure they certainly won't be oppressed now that they have shown the world they are collaborators and compradors.

When the arab movement sweeps through the middle east to destroy Israel and its proxies it will not be kind to the syrian kurds for their role they played

[-] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Arabs have never been kind to Kurds, it’s not something new. When all the people around you want to kill you, you’ll take any help you can get. Fuck the puppet state, I’m just saying that there wasn’t exactly a chill relationship between the Arabs and the Kurds before western meddling g

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago

There’s no excuse for hosting foreign imperialists. They will reap what they sowed.

[-] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

They were “reaping” ethnic hatred before the west got involved. Not justifying, giving their reasons. Obviously it’s fucking bad to host imperialists, but they’ve been under attack for centuries, if not millennia. No friends but the mountains, so if everyone will stab us in the back, we might as well take the imperialists money too

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

If you take the imperialist money don’t cry when the anti-imperialists destroy you. Deals with the devil come due

[-] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

Christ dude I get it, you’re an anti-imperialist. I’m trying to give historic context as to why the imperial divide-and-conquer strategy works as it feeds off of ethnic/cultural division and has bogged Assad down for over a decade. You can understand why they made the deal with the devil without giving sympathy about the consequences

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

Imperial divide-and-conquer strategy works basically anywhere if there’s a massive power disparity between the invader and the invaded. It would work in Cuba if applied.

I can understand why our enemies make the decisions they do, but that does not change that they are our enemies when they chose the imperialists. Many on this website and in the western left fundamentally reject this conclusion and support Balkanizing a war torn country their empire invaded because they were sold on a pentagon PR marketing campaign. I’m primarily talking to them here, not the Kurds, and explaining why that was a failure of theirs and what they should do to not get suckered in next time

[-] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

Alright cool, then I’m also explaining it to those people who might think Rojava is actually fighting for socialism. Glad we’re in agreement

[-] JohnBrownsBussy2@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

Has Turkey made a statement on the conflict? I am kinda expecting them to use the opportunity to do something, but dunno what direction that will be.

[-] CarmineCatboy@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago

by the law of the eternal conga line i except everyone to backstab everyone else at once

[-] JohnBrownsBussy2@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

I think the galaxy brain move would be for Turkey to cut a deal with Syria to take out the SDF, and then export all the Jihadis under their payroll to fight in Palestine.

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Won't work, most of those jihadis are also under mossad payrolls. ISIS never had any beef with Israel, and actively aligned with them a lot

[-] JohnBrownsBussy2@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

That includes HTS and the Al-Qaeda derivatives?

[-] KittyBobo@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

I don't know a whole lot about it so I'm open to be schooled on the topic. But like, China trades with US and Isntrael and when they do it they're not called collaborators, that's just them being pragmatic. So why is it different when the much smaller Rojava does it? I can't help but feel bad for them, I certainly side with them against Turkey. But while I understand the take that they're only serving to destabilize the region it's like, should they just roll over and die? Also the YPG have a cool flag. But if anyone knows more or can pick apart my opinion I'm open to learning more.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm not really just talking about trade. If they keep out of it I don't have a problem but if they see Syria having a weakness that they can exploit because of the situation they are actively taking action that harms Palestinians.

Completely different situation when you're just trading and stay the fuck out of things in every other regard but my concern here is Syria has to split its forces rather than give Palestinians the support they really need because they need a force that can prevent these people seizing territory and/or strategic locations.

If China was trading with Israel and seized a bunch of Syrian resources as an opportunist action during this I'd be pissed at them too.
