The purpose of this thread is to document crimes and atrocities conducted by Israel in Palestine.

Ground Rules:

  1. Only post verified reports with proof.

There have been multiple instances of fake news being mixed up with real news which undermines real crimes.

  1. Proper backup of the data should be ensured

Western controlled media and social media will definitely wipe evidence. For this reason, it's necessary to preserve everything on a safe host. For news articles or twitter threads, use the web archive.

Please feel free to mention any other safe / immutable places to store information and I'll add them here.

  1. Proper formatting should be a priority

This is a serious effort thread so please treat it as such.

Whenever posting something, include the source, context, what happened and evidence.

Top Level comments should preferably only be what the post is for. I ask you to give your opinions either in the news mega or in the sub comments.

  1. CW any link to proof that shows pictures of dead or badly wounded people.

Israeli army targeted journalists in southern Lebanon.

Context - Israel deliberatly targeted a news crew with tanks. Killed at least one journalist and injured 6 more.

Source

At least one journalist has been killed and six others wounded in a shelling attack by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, according to witnesses and reporters at the scene

The Reuters news agency confirmed on Friday that Issam Abdallah, a videographer, was killed in the attack.

A journalist working for Reuters was killed during fighting in Lebanon, the outlet confirmed Thursday.“We are deeply saddened to learn that our videographer, Issam Abdallah, has been killed,” a spokesperson for Reuters said in a statement. Issam was part of a Reuters crew in southern Lebanon that was providing a live signal and images from the ground.

Al Jazeera said some of its reporters were also part of the group of journalists that was hit by what is called a “shelling attack by Israeli forces.” Reuters said as of Thursday afternoon, it is “urgently seeking more information, working with authorities in the region, and supporting Issam’s family and colleagues.” Reuters journalists Thaer Al-Sudani and Maher Nazeh also sustained injuries as part of the incident that killed Issam and are seeking medical care, the outlet said.

“Our thoughts are with their families at this terrible time,” the company said.

Al Jazeera said videographer Elie Brakhya and reporter Carmen Joukhadar were also among the wounded.

Reuters journalist Issam Abdallah died in an artillery strike near the Israel-Lebanon border.

The news agency told Insider that two other journalists were injured in the attack on Friday.

The crew were struck while filming a livestream video for Reuters, which has since been removed

CW video from journalists perspective videoing outside when their car war shelled by a tank. You can hear a woman in English "I can't feel my legs! What happened I can't feel my legs!"

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
