I mean, with legos it's not even that bad, because the pieces look different; i have a nightmare box full of screws and nuts with diffrent size and thread i ripped from old stuff, finding the screw you need is an herculean feat
I inherited several of those from my grandfather. They're a pain in the ass to size properly, but they can be really useful in a pinch. Especially the tiny ones.

Around my parts we call that the Box of Miracles... It's where you go rummaging when you can't find the screw you need anywhere else.
