In Italy, this is not generally perceived as a victory of legality over organized crime, because many sentences were actually reduced to individual people, compared to what public prosecutors asked. Only a minority of sentences were confirmed, to the most blatantly guilty who could not avoid allegations through beurocratic quibbles.
