Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. I honestly think this guy is fucking hilarious.
Like, what an amazing asshole, to just be such a blatant fraud, and then basically just give the whole country the finger, and then put a suit and tie on every day and.not mention it.
It's truly a marvel.
Edit: I bet his glasses don't have lenses, you know?
He's a symptom of a party that has no morals or moral fortitude Santos could rape a baby on the house floor and gates would be like "he's just doing what Biden is thinking".
The GOP has the power to end this. They just don't care, really.
Politicians used to resign over minor scandals that had nothing to do with their behavior on the job. Hell, just over 20 years ago, that party raised hell and impeached the sitting president over a blowie.
Now they cover and encourage for blatant corruption, theft, incitement of violence, etc. Openly and proudly.
And their fucking base applauds them for it.
I know "the world is going to shit" is a time honored tradition for those getting old, but shit man, this seems different.
The crazy part is how many other people do this day in and day out and we never know because they aren't hounded by the press
People in New Jersey knew, not the exact details but, we knew.
I think it's less the press's fault and more a side effect of how absolutely clear George Santos' corruption is.
On some level I wonder if he has some kind of undiagnosed mental health issue and can't wrap his head around reality, and then is driven by a lying compulsion disorder. His level of lying about just about everything (and sometimes contradictory lies about the same thing), for no apparent reason, just seems to be compulsive at this point. And like Trump with his crime compulsion, getting into politics is shining a giant spotlight on him that anyone that could do critical thinking would see would lead them being caught/called out/held accountable.
There's a concept in politics called the gish-gallop. Also called firehose of lies. It's a time honored tradition, but in the past it was usually multiple people spewing crazy shit until they got called out too hard, at which point they'd quiet down and someone else would rotate in to take the heat.
With the way congressional districts are drawn, and now that they've seen Trump successfully accomplish this as a single person, to me the simplest explanation becomes that these liars lie because they know there won't be any immediate consequences, and that the more they can squeeze out, the less likely any given piece of it will be addressed.
It’s called being a Republican… there’s no cure.
Right? Just blatant, "You'll have to drag me out, kicking and screaming" energy. Til then, he'll just keep doing whatever he wants.
They're probably gonna make a tv series about this whole situation. I'd watch a show about a guy who bumbled his way to the Senate.
