So is "not trump now shut up and be happy" really gonna be the party's only message?
"Let's defeat fascism together," sounds pretty powerful to me.
Would be a convincing argument if Democrats had made a convincing effort toward defeating fascism.
The first order of business is keeping a fascist out of the Oval Office.
The only order of business has been identifying which groups to blame for failure.
ROFL… you have a strange definition of failure.
More convenient than strange, really.
If you're of the opinion that "running with only one inadequate message and losing to fascism" is success, I'm glad you've found a party that represents you.
I agree, and the existing messaging is enough for you and I.
I also don't believe it will be sufficient to get all the voters we need to win. You don't care, though. You have someone you already hate to blame for your second choice winning.
That's a lot of criticism from someone who has yet to provide a better alternative.
If you can't be part of a solution, then stop being a problem.
"We're not going to do anything, and if you don't solve it by yourself, then shut up and be happy."
They've actually done quite a decent amount of stuff. The fact that you're willfully ignoring it just shows your true colors. What's the point in continuing discussion with you if you're going to keep acting in bad faith?
About messaging? We're talking about messaging, right? What messages are we going with in addition to "not trump, shut up, be happy"?
Do you know the only reason you can ignore the gravity of the message "Don't let the fascists ruin democracy"?
It's because you actually support the fascist.
Also, I do wish to give you credit for something, you encouraged me to figure out how to block users on here.
Goodbye!
I'm voting for Biden, nitwit.
Oh well. Blocked, not blocked, it's not like any centrist listens either way.
Thats who I voted for in 2020, so, yeah.
Same. He ran on other shit in 2020 as well. Are we down to just "not trump"?
Yeah and he did okay, even better than expected, but ultimately liberalism can not solve America's problems so...
Got an actual progressive, Democrats?
Because "It's this or fascism" only works for so long.
Yeah, and it's attitudes like this that let fascism win. Stop trying to tear down a solution if you don't have anything better .
Traditionally what beats fascists are bullets to the face.
When the alternative is trump, that's the only message they need. Short term it's bad, as it's not voting on issues or policy. Long term it lets people know that when given a choice fascism will be rejected and be damaging to any party that tries it, offering easier wins for the opponent.
If you think that message works universally across all the voters you need to win, sure.
If course it doesn't work across all voters. It works across enough. Trump's messaging works on another cohort to drive them away. Then the Democrats don't need policies or platforms apart from not being trump.
When the election starts proper, I expect the Dems to keep banging on about the anxiety and stress of Trump's first term. Then they'll hammer homenthe corruption. Then the Russian asset. Then the insurrection. That's all the messaging they need.
