Why would they ban it? Its not like AliExpress which is been in the market for quite some time is banned

[-] davel@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 10 months ago

They might ban it for some combination of the new Cold War and indigenous capitalist protectionism.

Again, aliexpress hasnt been banned and thats chinese owned and is been on the market for a long time now.

Sure, but just because it hasn't happened to AliExpress yet doesn't mean it never will. The US is on a Chinese cold war bender now, unlike before.

Being notorious isnt the same thing as being banned. The article even mentions its a question of counterfeit goods.

Temu took market share because it paid a LOT in advertisements in the past few months, giving out free stuff to first time buyers. At least in the past few weeks, the advertisment zelousness has subsided.

I wasn't so serious about predicting that it will be banned, I mostly cracked a joke that was a reference to the Tiktok ban and sanctions

You're right they might not ban it if it doesn't threaten their interests too much

More or less what i was expecting. The only way amy company is remotely going to have a dangerous level of marketshare would basically have to compete with Amazons services, as companies like Walmart wasnt even capable of doing so. Id fully welcome competition, but that wall is extremely steep.
