do english speakers really use the word noel?
Not really (I'm from the USA, so take my English with a grain of salt), I think its use here is just to add to the comedic bizarre tone by using an obscure word instead of just "Christmas"
The title is "Wreck the Halls" so noel most likely refers to a Christmas carol.
