Because it's literally 10 times deeper than what you drew in the picture for starters. It's not just a big hole.
Also it's actively changing so those skyscrapers would consistently get washed away or wiped out by a rock slide everyrime you have them halfway built.
A couple of them in fact
Now I'm curious what its capacity would be...
