I could have sworn the last episode of OFMD was the series finale. They wrapped everything up nicely and I don't see where they'd go from there vis á vis pirates. It'd just be Ed and Stede being an an adorable gay couple who run a B&B.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still watch the hell out of that. But it's not really the same show.

The creator had previously said he intended the show to wrap after three seasons. So while the “ending” we’re left with now is suitable it wasn’t the one they planned.

I’m just glad they clearly wrote the second season finale anticipating the possibility that the show wouldn’t be renewed.

Just another example of the genius of that show. They got cancelled and made an ending so good I didn't even realize it had happened.
