20 years ago that was true for most people (not me), 10 years ago it was sort of true, today it's not really true anymore as o ly very specific vendors of widely used software (hello adobe) are still being a dick. Most packages work natively, have alternatives that work perfectly fine, or work through wine and worst case, through a virtual machine.
Those are the cons, the pros list is having a much safer and more stable machine, no more Microsoft spyware bullshit, no more Microsoft update bullshit, etc etc etc..
