Seriously, why would they not utilize the weapon that was so heavily featured in both SG-1 and Atlantis? I wonder if it was a licensing issue or something.

If I recall, the ammo ended up in short supply worldwide and hence prohibitively expensive.

What do you mean this is a fake show? Are we getting issued real ammo?

They use blanks. During the Iraq war there was a shortage of 5.7x28mm blanks. It's possible they switched some blank production lines over to make live rounds for the war, or maybe the military needed more blanks to cover increased training needs.

Also, they did use non blank ammo for some shots.
