Both incidents are being investigated as hate crimes because Davis police believe the alleged crimes were meant to terrorize the residents because of their actual or perceived religious beliefs.

Using my knife to cut and slash at the Israeli flag, taking care not to damage the Star of David, to let everyone know I disapprove of the nation's actions but have no issues with Judaism as a religion
