MODERATORS
It has a direct messaging system but there are privacy concerns and Lemmy has the option of adding your Matrix account details to.your.profile that then creates a secure message link to Matrix (which then gives you a choice of three apps to use). It's all very seamless and I'd recommend it to everyone.
