it is kind of amusing how zuckerberg is having meta release their models for free for no other reason than to seemingly fuck with microsoft/openai
meta AI is the greatest thing meta has ever done. a fully free open source model backed by a trillion-dollar research team that genuinely competes with the most powerful closed source models including openai? literally the biggest 180 from probably the most hated corporation in the world. straight up power to the people move like wtf
honestly if i dont have access to the training data, eg. cant compile it myself, i cant fully call it open.
but yeah, i feel zucc knows he wouldnt be able to compete otherwise.
That's true but then by those standards is there any competitive open source AI? I don't think Mistral, Phi, Qwen, or Gemma have easy access to that data either but I could be wrong.
