My girlfriends dad was actually an interpreter who got killed in Iraq when she was like a week out from graduating high school. From everything I've heard he was legit trying to keep the peace. Her memorial tattoo for him is "hero" in Arabic from a letter from a local child he kept with him.

His body was desecrated and hung up around Baghdad.

It's very telling that not a single person said anything to her on memorial day but a chud friend of my dad went into a rant about "if you'd ever been handed a folded flag you wouldn't ever disrespect a flying one" within ear shot of her.

She does not think very highly of America or its foreign policies believe it or not.
